A Statement from Liam Yesko, Founder & Homeowner:
When I bought a quiet, 1933 home in Haltom City, it was clad in muted beige stone and brown shingles. It was sturdy and full of history, but it blended into the background. In May 2026, with the help of 20 dedicated volunteers who arrived with paintbrushes, ladders, and open hearts, those walls became something much larger than a private residence: they became The Haltom City Rainbow House (The HCRH).
The catalyst began in early 2026, when public rainbow crosswalks—long-standing symbols of safety and LGBTQ+ visibility—were systematically ordered removed across Texas by Governor Greg Abbott, including nearby Dallas. A crosswalk is never just pavement when painted with purpose; it is a visible signal that all people are welcome and valued. When those civic affirmations were erased, I realized that what was stripped from the streets could be planted on private ground. Free from HOA restrictions and standing proudly on a busy corridor on the south side of Haltom City, this house was repainted not out of defiance, but out of devotion to visible belonging.
Today, The Haltom City Rainbow House stands as a community-driven landmark dedicated to three core pillars:
Cultivating a Vibrant Sanctuary: Providing a colorful, safe harbor where authentic friendships form, joy is shared, and no neighbor has to mute their true self.
Activating Local Impact: Uplifting Haltom City and the greater DFW Metroplex through grassroots initiatives, hands-on neighborhood projects, and inclusive local gatherings.
Practicing Radical Embracement: Moving deliberately beyond mere tolerance to celebrate the full kaleidoscope of human experience—bridging ideological, cultural, and personal divides through genuine hospitality.
The Rainbow House reflects my own journey as a working-class resident, caregiver, Wiccan, and proud gay man navigating the complexities of modern day Texas. I believe deeply in taking care of others, extending grace, and honoring the dignity of every person who walks into this home. Texas friendliness should never have exceptions.
Whether recognized by regional news outlets, celebrated at Pride, or honored locally by Haltom City leaders, the mission remains grounded on our front porch: to foster constructive dialogue, bridge differences, and ensure that hope never loses its color in our community.
